keine TK am Dienstag!
by Hanna Poddig 09 Jun '13

09 Jun '13

Re: [Actiwisdom] Important! activist exchange

Dear Wangui, hope you're headache is better by today and that you and your family are all fine. We have started happily communicating with Kinuthia Zak. In the other email you find a broad concept of our project. For the proposals for Heinrich Boell Stiftung etc, you had asked for a concept. Is this sufficiant or do you need further information? About the team: are there allready other possible participants? In our meeting today we realized, that for a journey in september, we will need to start the visa application process very very soon. Latest on June 15th we would need the names and dates of the team to get started. We just found out that Kinuthia doesn't have a passport yet. Do you think its realistic to get a passport in time? About the funds: Up to now we have about one third of the amount of money that we need. The rest we will borrow and try to organize until september and in the aftermath. In the very worst case that we will not be able to pay back the loans until March 2014, do think you could assist us in getting funds? We are very excited that things are getting into motion and can't wait to have our guests here in Berlin. Please get back to us as soon as possible, preferably before tuesday. First details about the exchange
by barbara＠derknut.org 09 Jun '13

09 Jun '13

Dear Kinuthia, was great to finally get in touch with you. Here is the promised Mail. First we'd like to present you the content of the project and then we wish to discuss our divergent expectations towards the organisational frame content: objective: exchange of activists from kenya and germany. -introduction to the political situation and institutions in germany, parlamentary and civil society -meeting with diverse forms of political activism, e.g. indepent media student movement violence and judical repression against activsts and resistance to that anti-nuclear-energy movement protest against coal mining -workshops on different forms of skills for political actions, e.g. communication and consenus various forms of demonstrations blockades (sitting blockades, material blockades...) affinity groups basic first aid for demonstrations -workshops and presentations from the kenyan activists Do you have any questions on that? Is there any more content you are interested in or any more workshops that you would like to attend? organisational frame: we've been meeting some difficulties in getting the funds that are sufficiant for such a project. But never the less we are very motivated and we think it is very important to have such an exchange so we came up with the idea to lower our expectians and have a low budget plan. In detail this means the following things: the team will sleep in one room, but with space enough for everyone. We will try to keep the costs for food as low as possible and our main base will be Berlin with vistit in one or two other places, so there will be no tour. Probably we won't be able to provide you with pocket money. Might there be any problems occuring from this situation? Please write a few lines on you're general expectations towards the project. In addition to that we would like to know roughly what kind of topics you coul give presentations or what kind of experiences from Kenya would you like to share with us. By the way, it will be an interesting time for you to come, because in September there is the general election in germany. Cheers, Barbara, Hanna, Johanna, Kathy, Jannik and Sara

exchange with activists from germany

Hello Zack, How are you doing? Here are Johanna and Kathy from Germany. We got your email-adress from Wangui. She told us that you would like to be part of exchange project with political activists from Germany. We two are part of the organization team in Germany. Exept of us there are more in the team: Sara, Hanna, Jannik and Barbara. Firstly: Its great to have you in the team! Up to now we had contact only to Wangui. So for us its great to have your email-adress in order to communicate directly with you. We still have some questions: Wangui told us that your the SONU Chairman. Unfortunately we know little about students acitivism in Kenya. So maybe you can describe what SONU is and what your responsibility is? How did you get to know about the project? And what do you know so far about it? If you ll take part on the exchange it ll be great that we keep in touch. Is it possible for you to stay in contact via e-mail the next weeks/month (especially as well because of the visa-stuff)? Wangui told us that your semester holidays are up from 9th of September. What date could you come to Germany? And how long could you stay? (Actually we re planning to do the exchange within two or three weeks) Up to now we still dont have a concrete plan what the project will look like so for us its very important to know you expectations about the exchange. That means: what do you like to do when in Germany? In which kind of political protests are you interested (students protests, anti-globalization-stuff, squatting action, non-violent street protests, climbing actions)? Do you want to make as well some sightseeing? What questions do you have? What do you want to know from us? The coming weekend (7th to 9th of June), we ll have a preparation workshop where we ll meet an organize a lot of things concerning the project. It would be great to get to know you and as well that you get into contact to us. So we thought that maybe, if you have access to a skype account, we could talk to each other then on skype? Do you have time on Saturday (afternoon)? Hope we dont disturb you with all our questions! Greetings from Germany, Kathy and Johanna
